This month at VBS we learned all about how Jesus Rescues. No matter what storms we may be going through Jesus is ALWAYS right there to rescue us.

We had an awesome time being able to serve the kids for a full week and watch them have fun while also learning about God.  We served over 50 kids this year between preschool and 5th grade! Thank you so much to everyone who helped with VBS, because none of it could have been done without you!

Our Children’s Ministry also had the joy of going to CentriKid Camp during July and they learned about how we are God’s workmanship and how He’s prepared good works for us to do ahead of time. The kids were able to learn that God had a blueprint for us in our lives and He has a plan for each-and-every one of us.

Greetings Church!

Let me say what a joy it is to stand among you and Praise and Worship our God. I do not think of myself as Worship Leader…but rather lead worshipper. I am truly blessed to be a part of our church ministry.

I would like to share with you a letter from the apostle Paul. It is found in Philippians 1:9-11. It says, “And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent…to the glory and praise of God.”

Here is Paul connecting the dots between our capacity to love and our ability to understand and discern the things of God. Therefore, if we’re going to approve what is excellent, we must increase our knowledge of the Excellent One! If we’re going to abound in love, we must rightly understand the God who is love! If we want to see our congregation come alive to the Glory and Praise of God, our doctrinal accuracy matters a great deal. For God delights when His people worship Him in spirit and in truth!

I encourage us one and all, to draw closer and learn more about the One True God! So that we may freely open our hearts…and our mouths…and Praise Him for what He’s done…and Worship Him for who He truly is!

Preschool Ministry

Our thanks and appreciation go out to everyone who assisted in Vacation Bible School. It was a very tiring but extremely rewarding time as we watched our small ones learn that no matter what happens, we will be “Rescued by Jesus”.

When you struggle…
When you worry…
When you’re lonely…
When you do wrong…
When you’re powerless…
JESUS RESCUES!
what happens, we will be “Rescued by Jesus”.

When you’re lonely…
When you do wrong…
When you’re powerless…
JESUS RESCUES!

IS THERE A PLACE FOR ME?

Do you ever wonder where you fit into God’s plan?  Do you ever wonder if there really is a place for you?  Understanding what God wants to accomplish through your life is far more important than deciding what you think you can accomplish for Him.

Perhaps you have just come into our Church, or you are a new creation in Christ, or maybe you have just been reluctant to get involved with the activities of the church.

As our fellowship continues to grow, we need helpers in all areas.  I encourage you to find your gifting.   Those things that you have a passion for and use these gifts to encourage others.  God has a place for you and a particular slot that you fit into.

If you feel a call to lady’s ministry, please let me know.   We have a place for you.  Our calling is to minister to others. If we lose sight of this one precept, we lose our joy.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.  “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”  Isaiah 55:8-9

To be a Vessel God can use:

  1. Accept the way God made you.
  2. Be Emptied of self to make room for God
  3. Allow God to cleanse you, even if the process is painful.
  4. Be filled and constantly refilled with the Living Water of the Holy Spirit
  5. Pour out your life in ministry as God directs.

Upcoming Events:

  1. The Tuesday night lady’s bible study will start up again on August 14th at 6:30 pm in the fellowship hall. See Heidi Wallace or Serina Holaway for more details.

Title of Study:  A Woman Who Doesn’t Quit – By: Nicki Koziarz

3. We will be holding a 2-week study of the book of Ruth

  1. November: Ladies Day Retreat.  “Fall-Out” November 17, 2018 10 a.m.  Until 1:00 p.m.

While many of our youth were out of town during the month of July we did go to Bob’s River Place on the Suwannee River twice. Talk about the kids having a great time, this was it! There are treehouses, rope swings, water slides, floating rafts, jumping platforms, log rolling and just good old-fashioned fun!   Summer is coming to a close and the kids will be going back to school this month. That does not mean the adventures and fun times stop. We have a big end of summer bash planned for September 7th and 8th at Rock the Universe! This is a two-day event that we will be staying in Orlando at Universal! The youth are very excited about this trip, as are the chaperones! More details to come at the time gets closer. Please see Tony for details and any questions you might have.

On September 23rd we invite everyone to stay for lunch after Sunday Services! The youth will be helping to prepare lunch and serving a family style meal. We will be serving Beef Stroganoff, salad, green beans, bread and for dessert you will have your choice of Apple or Peach crisp with ice cream. This is a fund raiser for the youth department, cost for lunch will be $10 per person. We hope you will make plans to stay for lunch and enjoy the fellowship.

We are always looking for more volunteers and/or chaperones to assist with the youth department. If this is something God has laid on your heart, please contact Tony Ridge 407-832-1162. God is doing remarkable things in this area of his church. We would love to have you be a part of it!  Please continue to come out on Sunday’s to Beef O’Bradys – Davenport and The Grille at Cypresswood – Winter Haven on Friday evenings for our Spirit Day’s!  This is a fantastic way to have a nice evening out and support the youth! We want to thank Duncan and Mary Ann Owen so graciously setting up these Spirit Day’s!

We will also be starting back up the Chick-fil-a fundraiser in September. We will have the date and times on Sunday morning announcement slides. Keep an eye out for it!

Summertime is almost half over, and the children will be going back to school soon, meaning vacation time is almost over. As a pastor, summer time has always been a time when discouragement can set it because the numbers are down in church.  While I know the statement, I am about to make is not true it is still something I battle.

It seems like summer time is vacation time from so many things including church. I am a fan of vacations and love to take them when I get a chance, so I would never discourage people from taking one. Just because you are taking a vacation from church does not mean you are taking a vacation from your walk with God. I must confess that when I go on vacation I do not attend a church. Some have criticized me for this, but the truth is I am not taking a vacation from God, I am just not going to a building for an hour. We need to realize that going to church does not impress God. He likes it when we fellowship together with believers, but it is not a deal breaker with God. I know people who attend church regularly and never miss even while on vacation, but from the fruit in their life, they are on constant vacation when it comes to Kingdom work. Enjoy your life and the time God gives you to get away from the rat race.

Just remember, every day of your life is an assignment from God and even while on vacation he can and will use you to touch hearts and change lives.

The 4-5 class have been talking about how awesome God is. Our emphasis on how God protected Daniel in the lion’s den and when Jesus tells Peter to catch a fish and it will have a coin in its mouth. We also brought in a couple of guinea pigs named Godzilla and Oreo, along with doodle bugs to talk about the awesome creatures God has created.
We are getting ready for VBS and looking forward to a great turnout of kids!

I have often thought about the time I have on this earth and what I am doing with this time.  What am I doing to change the world around me in the place where God has put me? From my perspective time is one thing that we have renewed every day and it is the one resource that everyone has the same amount given to them each day. It is not the amount of things I accomplish during my time, but it is the amount of things I accomplished that he has assigned to me that is important. God made me, knows me and knows how much “time” will be needed to accomplish what he wants me to accomplish for his glory. I may not accomplish as much as someone else in the same amount of time, but God only expects me to accomplish what he has planned for me to accomplish.

We try to keep up with other people and think we are not as valuable or effective as someone who seems to be accomplishing so much with their time. We get discouraged when we believe the lie that we are not as important or as valuable as someone else.  We are so valuable that God gave his only Son for us. God gave the very best heaven could offer in order to redeem the worst the world had to offer. Once he redeemed us he gave us a divine assignment with allotted time to accomplish it.  You have a life to live and God wants you to live a full life, but the time you have is not yours, it is His. Take the time and make the time to accomplish his purpose with your life. You are bought and paid for with a price therefore glorify him in your body which is not your own
