It is interesting to me how the world, in general, recognizes Christianity as a religion and will even practice some sort of celebration on Easter Sunday, but really do not understand or accept the real reason Easter even exists. Even Christian churches can’t wait to get out of church so they can take their children to hunt colored eggs in the hot Florida sun. Candy is handed out and we treat it like another day with some religious implications attached. Stop for a minute and think what was taking place in the spiritual world the day Christ rose from the grave. The cross was empty, but the grave had the body of Christ. Hell is reinforcing troops around the grave. Rumor has it that Jesus would come alive again and that could never happen if Satan was to win. While hell is frantic trying to make sure Jesus stays dead, Jesus is just waiting for the command from the Father to make his grand entrance into the history books. The first man to defeat death. Not just this once, but forever.
What Satan should have known and what we all need to remember is that Jesus was/is more than a man. He is God in the flesh. Our Savior, redeemer and soon coming King. Death could not hold him because he is all powerful. Sin could not stain him because he is holy, and time could not limit him because he is eternal. We should celebrate the resurrection every day. Why? Because without the resurrection there is no victory. A battle was won that you and I did not fight. A grave was occupied that we deserved and a cross was bled upon that we earned. It is time we stop talking about the victory won through Christ and start living the victory that is ours.
That is my perspective.

I recently learned the difference between believing there is a God & trusting that God. Believing there is a God is nothing really exceptional. Multiple people claim to believe there is a God and the devils believe and tremble. So, believing there is a God is not the magic answer. The one thing we need to do is learn to trust Him and to trust Him means we believe what He said and obey it and you will only obey it if you trust Him. The Bible says he that comes to God must believe that He is God. “AND” that He rewards them who seek Him. He is the answer to everyone who trusts Him.
How do I know I am trusting Him? The first thing you have to do is make sure it is God who is doing the speaking. He always answers through His Word and all direct from God is aligns with God’s holiness and His character. Second, you just have to relax! This means I can have confidence and assurance that God is going to do what He said he will do. Quit trying to make it work. Stop the scheming and manipulation. If God said it, then it will happen. Believing and trusting God is a choice. It is a yes or no answer. I will or I won’t. I do or I don’t. Come unto me all that labor and are loaded with cares and I will give you rest.

Summertime is almost half over, and the children will be going back to school soon, meaning vacation time is almost over. As a pastor, summer time has always been a time when discouragement can set it because the numbers are down in church. While I know the statement, I am about to make is not true it is still something I battle.
It seems like summer time is vacation time from so many things including church. I am a fan of vacations and love to take them when I get a chance, so I would never discourage people from taking one. Just because you are taking a vacation from church does not mean you are taking a vacation from your walk with God. I must confess that when I go on vacation I do not attend a church. Some have criticized me for this, but the truth is I am not taking a vacation from God, I am just not going to a building for an hour. We need to realize that going to church does not impress God. He likes it when we fellowship together with believers, but it is not a deal breaker with God. I know people who attend church regularly and never miss even while on vacation, but from the fruit in their life, they are on constant vacation when it comes to Kingdom work. Enjoy your life and the time God gives you to get away from the rat race.
Just remember, every day of your life is an assignment from God and even while on vacation he can and will use you to touch hearts and change lives.

I have often thought about the time I have on this earth and what I am doing with this time. What am I doing to change the world around me in the place where God has put me? From my perspective time is one thing that we have renewed every day and it is the one resource that everyone has the same amount given to them each day. It is not the amount of things I accomplish during my time, but it is the amount of things I accomplished that he has assigned to me that is important. God made me, knows me and knows how much “time” will be needed to accomplish what he wants me to accomplish for his glory. I may not accomplish as much as someone else in the same amount of time, but God only expects me to accomplish what he has planned for me to accomplish.
We try to keep up with other people and think we are not as valuable or effective as someone who seems to be accomplishing so much with their time. We get discouraged when we believe the lie that we are not as important or as valuable as someone else. We are so valuable that God gave his only Son for us. God gave the very best heaven could offer in order to redeem the worst the world had to offer. Once he redeemed us he gave us a divine assignment with allotted time to accomplish it. You have a life to live and God wants you to live a full life, but the time you have is not yours, it is His. Take the time and make the time to accomplish his purpose with your life. You are bought and paid for with a price therefore glorify him in your body which is not your own

You have never met him, but there is a little boy getting ready to move to Davenport. His mom and dad are not believers and have not been to church since they were children. They are so busy making a living that they have very little time for this young boy. He has a lot of things, but he does not have time. He has very little time with his parents and what he wants is a mom and dad that spends time with him and teaches him all the things he needs to know. God sees this and is making plans to introduce this little boy and his mom and dad to Jesus.
God is creating a place where people will love this little boy and share the greatest story ever told. This special place will have special godly people who will be gentle and kind. They will tell him about Jesus and put a desire in his heart to give his life to Jesus. God knows this little boy will then take Jesus home with him and he will introduce Jesus to his mom and dad. Their lives will change. Their hearts will be touched and their life of earth will find purpose and joy. Their soul will now be destined for heaven. All because a group of believers trusted God to use the resources he provided to create a ministry that touched hearts and changed lives. I hope you see the same thing I see. This God honoring, Christ exalting, life changing daycare that put Jesus in the heart of this little boy who took him home with him and helped his mom and dad accept Jesus. There is a great opportunity in front of us to make that story I just shared a common occurrence. All it will take is the prayers of his people and a willingness to give so that this daycare will become a reality. Please pray about what God would want you to give to make this happen.
